Upcoming presentation

I am thrilled to be be presenting at this year’s British Association of Dramatherapists’ international 2020 Conference, titled – ‘Chaos and Love: Presents, Pasts and Futures in Dramatherapy’ Friday 27 to Sun 29 November 2020.

My presentation is to be on ‘When the Therapist needs treatment following a life changing personal event.’  It will take place live on the BADth Zoom account on Sunday 29 November 2020 at 17:00.

This follows from my presentation at last year’s conference at Chester University Titled “Negotiating fitness to practice” which was well received, in anticipation of being published by Routledge – in 2020 – in the book Trauma in the Creative and Embodied Therapies.

Dramatherapy with adult survivors of sexual abuse

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts was the venue for the British Association of Dramatherapists’ most recent training event on Saturday 7th March 2015. Dr Bruce Howard Bayley and Madeline Anderson-Warren, both exemplary leads in the profession of Dramatherapy, facilitated a most inspiring and deeply thought provoking day on “Dramatherapy with adult survivors of sexual abuse”.

Stories at home attended as so many of the people I work with have survived all types of abuse, including sexual abuse .It is an extraordinarily emotive subject , and I was left emotionally exhausted at the end of the day, but learnt so much. It was also assuring to have so much of my practice and theoretical thinking affirmed. The facilitators were not shy of the taboo areas around this subject matter, which is vital for us as Therapists whose job it is to bear, with the people who come to us for therapy, the most intolerable and painful of experiences
